functions:
IBM Compatible PC-based
Digital Video Recording Surveillance System for colour or monochrome Video
Cameras, Record and Monitor or Playback simultaneously.
Four Channel Motion
Detection or Continuous or Time Lapse Digital Video recording.
Using Motion Detection
images are recorded only when image changes are detected.
Multiple Masking Zones for each channel.
Adjustable Detection Sensitivity for
each channel.
Audible Warnings, custom Sound Files
associated with each channel may be configured to automatically play when
image changes are detected.
Viewing during recording
and remotely via LAN TCP/IP, access limited to one remote (Client) PC at a
time.
Images may be Stamped with
user defined Title and Full Date/Time: Year / Month / Day AM-PM / Hour /
Minutes / Seconds.
Comprehensive log for each channel,
sorted by Year - Month - Day - Time, individual event clips may be saved
in an Archive File or deleted.
Storage on multiple HDDs and Folders,
oldest files are overwritten on a First-In First-Out (FIFO) basis when
free HDD space falls below a user specified value (range 9999 MB to 100
MB). This facility avoids loss of current surveillance recordings and
eliminates the need to periodically manually delete files.
Image Compression: User adjustable to
balance File Size against Image Quality.
Huge Storage capacity 1 110 000 ~ 1 390
000 Images with 50 GigaByte HDD @ maximum Image Quality setting, even
greater capacity @ lower Image Quality settings. (This estimation is based
on a sampling of one hundred 20 MB files each containing 444 ~ 555
images). By comparison the image capacity of a VCR with 3 hour tape is
just 540 000 images (50 fields per second x 3 600 second x 3 hours).
Capture Rate: 3 ~ 5 images per second
per channel, depends on PC Hardware, number of channels in use, image
content, compression, other running tasks, etc.
Eliminates tedious and time consuming
review of tape recordings, labelling and storage of tapes.
Eliminates the high cost of a Time Lapse
VCR, Maintenance and Cassettes.
Considerably Higher-Resolution,
Lower-Noise, Deterioration-Free and Consistent Image Quality than possible
with a Quad and VHS or even SUPER-VHS VCR.
Operates continuously: no down-time
while tape rewinds, is changed or replayed.
CAPTURE CARD:
Single Chip Bt878 BrookTree
IC Video Capture, fully PCI 2.1 compliant.
Compatible with CCIR/PAL (Australia) EIA/NTSC (Read
this) (USA) & SECAM (France) TV systems.

Time Lapse Recording intervals
adjustable 0.5 to 600 seconds, 0.5 second increments.
Eliminates tedious and unproductive
visual monitoring, system may be configured to play a standard or custom
audio file associated with each camera when motion is detected. User's
attention to activity in areas under surveillance may be announced by PC
Sound System ie: "Movement at Rear of Building" - "Movement
in Display Area" - etc - etc.
Masking allows user to define areas that
will be disregarded by Motion Detection function, multiple masked areas
may be defined anywhere on image or the entire image masked and segments
of importance unmasked.
Storage Folder for each channel may be
located on different HDDs, this allows a large HDD to be allocated for
Camera(s) in high activity or high priority areas, Folders for other
channels may be located elsewhere. Images may be stored on Local (Server)
PC and / or Remote PC.
Comprehensive Log on Local (Server) PC
for each channel with individual files for each event, sorted by Year -
Month - Day - Time, individual clips may be saved in an Archive File or
deleted.

AVI, BMP and JPEG files may be easily
copied and distributed to Police, Security Personnel, etc, via Floppy
Disc, CD ROM, Zip, Tape, e-mail, etc,.
AVI files can be viewed Full-Screen
using standard Windows MS Media Player, BMP and JPEG files can be viewed
with MS Paint, Quick View, etc, no special software required.
Sequential capture and motion detection
analysis of images from 4 inputs at up to 384 x 288 (CCIR/PAL Australia
& SECAM France/Russia) 320 x 240 (Read
this) (EIA/NTSC USA/Japan).
* LOWER-NOISE
* HIGHER-RESOLUTION see comparison below
* DETERIORATION-FREE
* CONSISTENT IMAGE QUALITY
Compared to conventional 4
Channel Quad / VCR recording systems that are susceptible to fluctuating
results depending on condition of Tape, VCR Heads and Transport
mechanisms.
FREE Software: CCIR/PAL
recording 384 (H) x 288 (V) per camera = 110 592 pixels.
Quad & VHS VCR: CCIR/PAL
recording ~ 160 x ~ 288 per camera = 46 080 pixels, 58% less data.
Quad & SUPER-VHS VCR:
CCIR/PAL recording ~ 265 x ~ 288 per camera = 76 320 pixels, 31% less
data.
Above comparison is based
on a VCR operating in Frame-Recording mode, as most VCRs (in
Time-Lapse mode) only record Fields, the situation is
considerably worse as only 144 (not 288) horizontal scan lines are
recorded per camera. In Field mode per camera pixels for VHS
are: 23 040, 79% less data, for Super-VHS 38 160, 65% less data.
SYSTEM
REQUIREMENTS:
CPU: Pentium 200 or above,
Pentium 500 or better recommended, Celeron not recommended.
Operating System - RECORDING Software: Windows 98 / ME with latest
updates.
One PCI Slot and unshared IRQ (Interrupt Request).
Operating System - REMOTE VIEW Software: Windows 95, 98, NT or 2000.
Sound Card: (optional) for Audible Warnings.
Network Card: (optional) for Remote Viewing.
Hard Disk space: Plenty of disk storage for recording, at least 1GB per
camera.
System RAM: 64 MB or above.
Display card: 16-bit high colour or 24-bit true colour, 800 x 600 or
above, Direct Draw compatible.

monochrome or colour, reliable recording is not possible with a mix of
monochrome & colour cameras.
STORAGE
REQUIREMENTS:
Size of individual files is
20 MB, each 20 MB file typically contains 444 ~ 555 images with Image
Quality set @ maximum..
Storage capacity with @ 50
GB HDD @ highest Image Quality setting is 1 110 000 ~ 1 390 000 Images,
capacity may be increased considerably by lowering Image Quality setting.
For comparison the capacity
of a 24 Hour Time Lapse VCR with 3 hour tape is only 540 000 images (50 x
3 600 x 3).
Following is presented for
informational purposes only and relates to GoVideo-4 system, details are
in general also applicable to FREE Software.
Hard Disk Space
requirements are impossible to specify, there are numerous variables that
will affect the size of each Video Clip, they include: Image Resolution -
Compression - Capture Rate (Frames-per-Second) - PC Speed/Performance - Image
Content:- A solitary person moving about (only a portion of image is
changing) - VERSUS - Numerous persons and/or vehicles moving about (large
portions of image are changing).
Below are examples from a
system that operates continuously 24 hours per day, PC hardware is: AMD
K6-2/450 CPU (approximately equal to a 450 MHz Pentium), Epox MVP3 Apollo
AGP/PCI ChipSet Motherboard with 1 MB L2 cache, 128 MB 100 MHz DRAM, IDE
33 ATA HDD.
This data is for a single
channel operating in Motion Detection Mode, Camera is a 600 + H-Line
Colour Day / Night / IR unit with Automatic Iris Lens and Infra-Red
illumination, the scene is the driveway / entrance to our warehouse.
Activity in this situation includes: one to several persons moving about
in the driveway, motor vehicles coming and going and passing motor
vehicles, a person moving about in the driveway occupies 60% ~ 20% of the
captured image frame height, a Truck occupies up to ~ 40% of image area.
Motion Detection Sensitivity level is such that a Cat moving about at an ~
6 metre wide point in the scene triggers recording Day or Night (under
InfraRed illumination). GoVideo settings are: Resolution = 384 x 288,
Compression = 5 (minimum compression, therefore highest image quality),
Frame Rate is set to maximum for this Computer, 62 per 10 seconds.
There are 5 levels of
Compression, with a static scene and resolution = 384 x 288, frame file
size varies between 1 kB ~ 7 kB as compression is varied from 1 (maximum)
to 5 (minimum). The minimum Frame Rate is 1 per 10 seconds, the maximum
rate is dependent on PC Speed/Performance and resolution. AVI file data
(number of frames) was obtained using MS Media Player with Indeo video
5.04 Decompression Filter - Video Renderer.
Over a 20 day period 3 547
events were captured, they occupied 467 MB of Disk Space, the smallest AVI
file was 12 kB (2 Frames), the maximum was 8 389 kB (896 Frames).
Examples of some files: 14
kB (2 frames), 56 kB (12 frames), 163 kB (38 frames), 294 kB (59 frames),
66 kB (104 frames), 722 kB (137 frames). There is no direct relationship
between the number of frames and file size, this is variable and depends
on frame to frame changes in the images.
Above data is from an
actual operating system and is presented as a guide only, actual results
in each situation will vary considerably because of the numerous variables
involved.
