960H describes new CCD image sensor and Digital Signal Processing Effio technology introduced by Sony, Video Security Recorders that support 960 Horizontal Pixels record at a higher resolution than previously possible using traditional composite video CCTV Security recorders. This HD-Analog technology has negligible latency when compared with most HD Network Cameras that often display live images with a 'time delay' or 'lag' that may be seconds behind reality.

The 'H' in 960H is the number of effective horizontal pixels in the CCD image sensor &/or DVR video capture analog-to-digital converter. This 960H technology represents a 33% increase in the number of pixels 960x576 when compared with the best traditional 720x576 CCD Sensors and composite CCTV Video Recorders. This increase in Pixels provides significantly better Images & Recording resolution without incurring the high costs, latency and poor low-light performance associated with HD Network IP Cameras.

While Cameras utilising 960H CCD technology will provide improved image quality with conventional equipment the increased resolution cannot be realised with a 720H DVR or composite video Monitor/TV. This is because the composite video input stage in traditional colour CCTV Security equipment deliberately limits resolution to 540 HTVL (720H) in order to correct problems such as aliasing. Our 960H HD CCTV Security Video Recorders are capable of Recording at 960x576 AND displaying this resolution on a VGA or HDMI Monitor/HDTV. Multi Camera monitoring on a 1920x1080 Monitor or HDTV is particularly impressive, all Outputs are simultaneous VGA + HDMI + Composite allowing utilisation of existing Monitors and Televisions.
